What's New
With the visible changes to the site, one might ask,
“What’s not new?”
But first, and most importantly, we are still a full-service marina, with an expanded shop and parts department, boat sales, winter and summer storage, and a variety of other services to serve Squam Lake and the surrounding region as Riveredge Marina has since 1939. Most of the staff have remained on board, with some new additions to help make a smooth transition through the renovations. Most recently, Dan Eaton joined us here in the Spring of 2007 and brought with him TowBoat U.S. and Mobile Marine Services to Riveredge. For more information, click here.
Skip and Barb VanSickle, who owned and ran Riveredge from 1982 to 2005, have retired, but certainly not to a distant tropical place; they are in Holderness, on Big Squam, in the town they love to call home, in the same house they’ve lived in since before they became involved with the marina. Their legacy here is their hundreds of loyal customers, making clear our goal of maintaining and expanding the marine services offered by Riveredge Marina, for all current and future clients.
The renovations to the buildings, extensive sitework, and landscaping are aimed to improve the experience of all our customers, as well as the overall use of the site. We serve as the gateway to Squam for many people, and we hope to make the Marina site feel like home, even if it’s only your boat that lives here.
The main marina building houses a showroom for new boats, a ship’s store for a variety of boating-related accessories, administrative offices, and a parts department. We now carry Mercury Outboards in addition to our Honda line; if your outboard is old and tired, this is the place to go for a repower of any size. Within the same space, there are areas designed to inform customers about the local lake and conservation associations, as well as some local attractions and activities, and free internet access. The Ship's Store stocks a wide variety of marine related accessories, water toys, and other summer gear, as well as snacks, drinks, ice, sundries, souvenirs, and anything you'd need for a day on the lake.
There is also be an area where customers can access the internet, with a system for ordering specialty watersports items such as waterskis, wakeboards, tubes, wetsuits, lifejackets, and other related when not carried in the store’s stock.
The project as a whole consists of the renovation and re-vitalization of Riveredge Marina, the formation of a Boat Club intertwined with the Marina property, and the responsible development of adjacent land through a low density residential community. Ground breaking on this project is expected in Spring 2008! For more information on the housing, visit www.squamlanding.com.
